Thank you to everyone who participated in our member satisfaction survey, whether in face-to-face interviews or online. We take the feedback very seriously and are reviewing where we can make changes and improve performance in line with what we've learned. AVCAL's primary objective "To facilitate an environment where PE and VC can flourish, through advocating on behalf of the industry and providing them with skills and networks" received almost universal agreement.
One of the key goals for 2013 has been increased LP engagement. To facilitate that engagement we held a very successful LP Forum in Melbourne last month with 38 investor participants. The feedback was very positive and the opportunity to present AVCAL's research to the group and to show our ability to deliver on advocacy objectives through a discussion with key regulators was highly regarded by the participants. They indicated that they'd be pleased to have such a Forum semi-annually. Also it resulted in 5 extra LPs coming to the alpha conference.
On the research and policy front, we've released the AVCAL/Cambridge Associates Q1 2013 performance benchmarks. Links to the reports are provided below. And just a reminder to our members to supply their data for our FY2013 data collection, which is important to our advocacy and research efforts.
We are working through a submission to the Government's consultation paper on ESOPs for startup companies and will publish it on the members policy portal when it is complete. We are working closely with Employee Ownership Australia on the issue.
It has been membership renewal time and I'd like to thank all of those who have renewed their membership very promptly. Your support of AVCAL's ongoing work is appreciated.
During the election period I have been spending time with both sides of politics making sure that they understand our industry and will be supportive of issues like VCLP, amendments to MITs, improvements to taxation of employee share schemes, the new IIF Round 4 etc. The recent AVCAL publications of "The Economic Contribution of PE in Australia" and " The Economic Impact of VC in Australia" have been valuable in articulating our messages to this audience.
And, if you'd like you to get to know our Council members a bit better, we've included their photos below and a link to their profile.
I'll drop you a note just before the conference, until then,
