outdoor advertisers and cinemas.
We have also been busy on the advocacy front with a submission to the Office of the Chief Scientist on breakthrough actions that the Government could undertake to improve the benefit realised from taxpayer-funded R&D; and a submission to Treasury on their discussion paper on "a more workable approach to fixed trusts" .

Submission to Senate Inquiry on the Cross Border Transfer Pricing Bill - 16 Jul (The retrospective transfer pricing bill (Phase 1) was passed by Parliament in August. The exposure draft of the Phase 2 legislation is expected to be released in September).

Private equity Asia-Pacific: Is the boom back? – McKinsey & Company
This recent report by global consultancy firm McKinsey & Company shows that Asia was the world’s only region where PE investment values returned to 2006 levels. Moreover, with the Chinese market showing signs of a slow-down, some international PE players have turned their attention to Australia. Nevertheless players continue to observe caution regarding the ATO ruling on the tax treatment of capital gains.
