Dear AVCAL Colleague,

I'm writing to introduce myself as the new Chief Executive of AVCAL. I am delighted and honoured to be offered the opportunity to lead this organisation and I am really looking forward to doing so.

Just to let you know a little bit about myself: I have worked for the last ten years for myself as a management adviser and professional director, including working with Australian technology companies seeking venture funding. To date, I have specialised in the business of science and technology and government interaction and I have consulted to various government groups on innovation and commercialisation.

With more than 25 years in the technology and commercialisation industry, I have held a broad range of management and board positions. For five years I ran a successful industry association for technology exporters but more recently have predominantly worked as a Non-Executive Independent Director.

I have relinquished a number of board positions in order to take up the position at AVCAL but will remain on the board of medical devices company Ventracor Limited, Chair of the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre and Council Member, University of Technology Sydney.

Over the next short while my main priority will be meeting stakeholders in the industry from Members to Government to other key industry people.

I look forward to catching up with you as the year progresses, including at AVCAL events.
