Dear AVCAL Colleague,

Clarification on Eligibility for New Round of IIFs

Following the Government's very welcome Budget commitment of $200 million for a further round of funding of the Innovation Investment Fund (IIF) programme, we are pleased to note that it appears existing managers, as opposed to just new managers, will be able to apply for funding.

Clarification on this point was provided by the Department's Secretary at a Senate Estimate's Hearing last week in response to a question by Senator George Campbell.

AVCAL 2006 Charity Fund Raiser

Anyone who has followed in the media over the last couple of weeks the plight of Indigenous children in remote communities will be heartened by AVCAL's support of Yalari Limited's Rosemary Bishop Indigenous Scholarship.

The charity commenced in 2005, and AVCAL is a founding supporter.

The charity provides Indigenous children from remote communities with scholarships to attend secondary schools throughout Australia. The aim is for these children to become leaders within their communities.

AVCAL raised $63k at its annual conference in 2005, and a further $300k has been contributed by members of the private equity & venture capital community. Five children have now been awarded Rosemary Bishop Indigenous Scholarships.

During 2006, AVCAL will continue its support of Yalari Limited by raffling a painting by Papunya Tula Artist, Joseph Jurra Tjapaltjarri. A maximum 1,000 tickets will be sold @ $100 each. The raffle will be drawn at the annual AVCAL conference dinner on September 27th. Please help Indigenous people create leaders in their communities

To purchase tickets, please go to www.avcal.com.au/charity

All Investor Members will be asked to participate in the 2006 AVCAL / Thomson Performance Survey. The survey will be dispatched in mid June to CFOs or Principals. Our aim is to release the results at our Institutional Investor Symposium as part of AVCAL 2006.

The Survey will provide information on the amount of capital available for investment, as well as Benchmark IRRs for the Venture Capital and Private Equity industry. Please direct any enquiries to Ed Day.
