Dr Harry Unger
Chief Executive Officer of Vision Group Holdings Ltd

Dr Harry Unger graduated from the Victorian College of Pharmacy in 1967, worked in retail pharmacy then commenced studies in Medicine in 1972. He graduated MBBS in 1977(Univ. Melb) and further completed postgraduate training in Ophthalmology gaining his FRACS and FRACO in 1984.

He has held executive positions with the Royal Australasian College of Ophthalmologists at both State and Federal levels and for 12 years was a senior consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

His private practice group pioneered co-located consulting rooms based Ophthalmic Day Surgery creating the first such clinic in Victoria in 1987.

Dr Unger created the corporate model which provided the basis for the consolidation of the Ophthalmic Industry. Vision Group is Australia ’s largest provider of ophthalmic services, day surgery and laser surgery with businesses in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

Vision Group gained substantial funding from AMP Capital Investors in December 2001. Vision Group Holdings (VGH) listed on the ASX in December 2004 and is now included in the ASX 300.
