    New Significant Investor Visa (SIV) regulations issued Effective 1 July 2015, the revamped SIV programme requires applicants to invest at least 10% of their minimum $5m investment in Australian VC or Growth PE funds. The Migration Regulations and Migration Instrument have now been released. AVCAL has embarked on a series of public information sessions in Sydney and Melbourne on the role of Australian VC and PE in SIV portfolios, in partnership with Austrade.   • ESOP standard docs for startups now available online

    As part of the new Employee Share Schemes concessions for startups, from today startups can use standard templates created by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to offer employees options in their company. The ATO has made available templates for an Employee Option Plan and an Employee Letter of Offer. Employers can download the templates from the ATO website, fill in the blanks and offer their employees options to buy shares in the company.  A safe harbour market valuation methodology has also been developed to give certainty to startups that are valuing their company.   • New Significant Investor Visa regulations issued

    Earlier this year the Government  announced changes to the Significant Investor Visa (SIV), to be implemented from 1 July 2015. These changes include the requirement for applicants to invest a minimum of AUD500,000 in one or more VC or Growth PE funds as specified in the Migration Instrument. The amended Migration Regulations and Instrument implementing the enhanced SIV and new Premium Investor Visa (PIV) have now been publicly released.   The amended legislation introduces the new complying investment framework for the SIV and PIV and provides Austrade with the authority to nominate applicants for the SIV, alongside State…
