Michael Lukin is a Managing Director in Macquarie Funds Group Sydney office. Michael is responsible for the overall management of Macquarie Investment Management Private Markets global operations and is chair of the Investment Committee and Senior Partners Committee. Prior to his appointment as Global Head of MIMPM, Michael was responsible for all Australian private equity capital raising, fund investments and co-investments. He has been a member of MIMPM’s Investment Committee since its inception and has been directly involved in the successful implementation of MIMPM’s large public pension fund mandates and fund of funds, having participated in the approval of all MIMPM investments since joining Macquarie.
Michael has 15 years of private equity investment experience. Michael serves on the advisory boards of Next Capital, Crescent Capital, Pacific Equity Partners, Catalyst, Ironbridge and Gresham Private Equity, and is a current AVCAL Council member.
Michael is also an existing or former Board Director of National Hearing Care (audiology services), Life Healthcare (medical device distribution), Space Time Research (data analytics), Clearview Wealth (life insurance), PAS Group (apparel) and National Dental Care (dental services). He is also holds an Observer role with Sphere Healthcare (complementary medicine), an Alternate Director with Discovery Parks (caravan parks) and Investment Committee role with Evolution Healthcare (hospitals).
Before joining Macquarie, Michael was an asset consultant with Towers Perrin, providing advice on investment matters and manager selection to superannuation funds and master trust clients. This included working with the Alternative Investments Group of Total Risk Management, a subsidiary of Towers Perrin, on alternative asset manager selection and policy.
Michael received a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics with Honours from the University of Sydney, Australia, majoring in financial mathematics. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter Holder and is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
