Malcolm has worked in venture related roles since 1998. Prior to Starfish Ventures, he spent several years as Investment Manager with JAFCO Investment (Asia Pacific) and then joined Platypus Technology in sales and business development, establishing the company’s US operations.
Malcolm is a programmer by training with graduate degrees in physics and computer science and an MBA from Melbourne Business School. He also spent several years in Japan as a Monbusho scholar researching technology commercialisation.
At Starfish, Malcolm’s focus is on investments in information technology and software businesses, with particular interest in mobile, internet and cloud based enterprise systems. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment lifecycle from deal sourcing and execution through portfolio management and exit creation.
Malcolm is the Starfish Director for iCiX, Intersection Medical, QS Semiconductor and Space Time Research, and Board Observer at Aktana, Scalify and Zoom Systems. Previous roles include Director of 5th Finger (acquired by Merkle), Evostor (acquired by Virsto Software), and G2 Microsystems (acquired by Broadcom), as well as Board Observer of Quickcomm (acquired by Vodafone).
